Zen will shortly be running a competition that will allow you to win £250 ‘credit’ for your customer’s accounts. You can spend this credit on any service that Zen provides, be that to pay for your current services, or to order something new.
To qualify to be in this prize draw, all you need to do is register a .EU domain with DNS between 12th June and 7th July. Your details will then be entered into our prize draw and the lucky winner will receive the £250. It really is that simple.
There are over one and three quarter million active .eu domain names, but there are still lots of domain names available. Your customers could therefore get the exact domain name they want, whilst establishing a Europe wide identity and protecting them from cyber-squatters…and you could win £250 in the process!
Please note that the credit will be assigned to the account that registers the domain name.
Terms and Conditions apply. No purchase necessary.
Please see here for further details.
In April and May, Zen has had a real focus on doing its bit for the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society.
In April Zen organised a staff cake break to help raise funds for the charity. This was part of a nationwide ‘MS Cake Break Day’ which encourages both companies and individuals to raise money during MS Awareness Week.
Cakes were kindly donated by a local supplier and were delivered to each of Zen’s three sites, with staff able to choose how much they donated for a slice. In addition to this, competitions were organised throughout the day to add to the fundraising. Overall the event at Zen raised £224.81 for the charity.
This event was then followed by fundraising for the Great Manchester Run which Zen took part in again this month.
45 members of staff took part in the run which was held on Sunday 21st May and so far Zen have raised £1,435 for the charity through this event. While they tested their running skills in this 10K race around the streets of Manchester, other Zen staff and members of the public helped them to raise money for the MS Society through online sponsorship for completion of the run.
Many partners also took part in the run to raise money for various charities including Brad Journeaux of Rochdale Online and Dave Scott of NRG Telecoms, and a great day was had by all!
Zen has for a long time understood the value of case studies and the benefits they can bring. They are a great tool to help illustrate solutions in practise for customers and it helps them to understand how solutions will work for them as well as providing reassurance on the quality and reliability of the services that they can expect.
Once the case studies are completed, they are put into the press centre on the Zen Web site (www.zen.co.uk/presscentre) in the case studies section. These case studies are sometimes done with direct customers but we also like to do case studies with our partners and promote the solutions they are providing as much as possible.
As well as the case studies being on the Press centre site these have now been added on to the ZenPartner site. You can access these by logging in and then visiting Marketing, then ZenPartner case studies. Why not check these out next time you are on the partner site.
The partners we currently have case studies for on there are NCS Support Services, Arrow Computing, Assistec and Flexsys.

Andy Long of NCS and Michael Lomas of
Wynsors World of Shoes
|
The latest of these case studies was for NCS Support Services and the solution they have provided for their customer Wynsors World of Shoes. Wynsors World of Shoes were extremely happy with the solution provided and Michael Lomas the IT Manager there, commented: “The solution provided by NCS and Zen proved to be so reliable that a similar solution for remote networking within the footwear group of the company has been introduced. The reaction time for dealing with and solving IT problems at store level has increased significantly therefore cutting down on site visits, traveling times and costs. The ongoing support from NCS is an excellent asset to this solution.”
For the full Wynsors case study, please click here
Case studies also have the added benefit that once completed, you can use these as much as you like with customers and prospective customers which can be a very useful tool. Why not check these out today and see the kinds of solutions that other partners are providing.
If you are interested in doing a case study with Zen please contact your Account Manager.
Zen is currently in the process of putting together a digital telephony (VoIP) offering. Our aim is to offer a product that will prove to be beneficial to our customers, so that they can use our high quality network to make and receive phone calls.
Digital telephony, or VoIP as it is widely known, is voice communications transmitted over a broadband connection. The main benefit of a digital telephony service is cheaper phone calls, both within the UK and internationally and additional flexibility for you and your business.
If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see from our digital telephony product, please e-mail voipfeedback@zen.co.uk.
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to incorporate all suggestions, but we will endeavour to tailor the product to provide what our customers want.
Rochdale Online (www.rochdaleonline.co.uk) has always been an important source of local information in the Rochdale area but the site recently became an even more important source of information!
During the recent local elections Gold ZenPartner Rochdale Online did its bit and provided local voters with vital voting information. Special pages were set up on the site during the voting period which gave voters important information regarding pitches from candidates, information on how to vote, where to find more information on voting, commentary on the events as they were happening, photos, vote results and a full report on the days events. The service proved invaluable for local voters with a high number of visits to the site over the voting period.

Zen Internet recently connected the LawLAN online gaming event in Slough. This event which helps raise money for the local Sikh community centre was held from 12th to 14th May, with gaming enthusiasts gathering to show off their skills for a good cause.
This was the third time that Zen provisioned the broadband for this event and it was a massive boost to LawLAN, which actually began with a dial-up connection, but has become so well established with growing numbers of attendees, that connection speeds have increased over the years.
Rashpal Singh Bahra, one of the organisers of the event, commented:
“Having the support of Zen has helped us run the LAN more and more successfully each year, and makes sure we can give the most back to the community centre. Zen has always proved reliable and with the new higher speeds on offer this year we can continue to create the best gaming experience for those who attend. A high quality Internet connection is proving essential due to the growth of online games in recent years.”
For more information on the event visit www.lawlan.net.

Which album /single do you have in your stereo?
With riding a bike everywhere I don’t have a stereo so I just have to sing what ever tune is in my head at that time. Sometimes I have to make up my own lyrics if I can’t think of the words to a song. So listen out for me singing past.
Which football team do you support?
That would be Manchester United, I think that’s because when my cousins and I were growing up our uncles drilled it into us all to support them.
What is your favourite childhood TV programme, and why?
Transformers and Ghost Busters. They were the only programs I used to watch.
If you could be any one else for a day who would it be and why?
I’d be Bill Gates and then deposit all his money into Wayne Moran’s bank account
What was your best Christmas present?
My best Christmas present was a Nintendo Entertainment. The huge one with game cartridges the size of doors anyway it kept me occupied for hours and even days during the holidays.
Do you have any bad habits?
