PC Advisor Survey shows Zen delivers on reliability and service

Zen Internet proved successful in the PC Advisor Reader Awards 2007, as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) was named 'Most reliable ISP', 'Best Small ISP' and gained the 'Customer service' award.

PC Advisor Most Reliable ISP   PC Advisor Best Small ISP   PC Advisor Customer Service Award

This was part of the results following the 'Best Buy Broadband' survey, conducted by PC Advisor to find out what customers really think about their broadband service.

Zen regularly stands out for its ability to provide a good customer experience, a factor of broadband service that PC Advisor highlights as important in the survey, which rated providers for overall satisfaction. It emphasised that choosing a broadband provider on price alone is not advisable, and contract terms should also be taken into consideration.

Richard Tang, Zen Internet Managing Director, commented:

"I am delighted that Zen has won three awards in the PC Advisor survey. Awards like these reaffirm our commitment to our company mission – to provide the best ISP service in the UK."

The PC Advisor August edition containing this survey is out now.

Coming Soon - Dedicated Linux Servers

'Take your hosting to new heights'

This summer sees the launch of a new range of hosting products in the form of dedicated Linux servers. Based on a highly redundant hosting platform, these new services will provide the ongoing performance, reliability and security of having your very own Linux server.

Ideal for hosting high availability Web sites, databases, applications and e-mail services, you’ll benefit from guaranteed service levels, firewall security and full administrator access. It also means you’ll avoid the cost and long-term commitment of purchasing, setting up and hosting any hardware yourself.

The Networking Company sponsors Scottish Border art organisations

The Networking Company

Zen Platinum Partner The Networking Company, was proud to sponsor two Scottish Border art organisations, The 2007 Borders Book Festival and community group, the Riddell Fiddles.

Their involvement with Riddell Fiddles was the Networking Company's first venture into arts sponsorship and their support was matched by Arts & Business Scotland in conjunction with the Scottish Executive with a New Arts Sponsorship Award.

The Networking Company’s Technical Sales Director Allan Williams

The sponsorship and award helped provide an admin base for the group including a Zen connection which aims to allow anybody to learn the traditional fiddle, by providing inexpensive fun-filled lessons for young and old alike (including The Networking Company’s Technical Sales Director Allan Williams!)

The 2007 Borders Book Festival has found a home, thanks to the support of the National Trust for Scotland, at Harmony House and Garden in Melrose.

Alistair Moffat, Borders Book Festival Director commented:

”The 2007 festival sparkled with talent from the first night on Thursday 21st June to the closing concert on Sunday 24th June. Writers from all over Britain, from America and India came to talk to us in the June sunshine”

Take control of your E-mail

A reliable e-mail service is a vital part of any corporate environment. Take complete control of your e-mail by running your own e-mail server onsite or alternatively let Zen Internet's award winning team host and manage your server for you.

While Microsoft Exchange is often a popular choice for e-mail, it is an expensive solution whose initial costs can easily mask the significant total cost of ownership. Complex platform requirements and the expensive IT skills required to look after it mean that the vast majority of companies will find Exchange Server overkill for their requirements. However, feature rich, reliable, easy to manage, low cost alternatives do exist and MDaemon from Alt-N Technologies is one of the most popular Windows based alternatives to Exchange.

MDaemon is a Windows-based e-mail server that can be installed and configured in minutes and managed by anyone within your organisation with the minimum of training. Despite its ease of use, MDaemon provides full e-mail server functionality that surpasses almost all other mail server products on the market. Flexible account management and controls, integrated support for mobile devices, remote web access with groupware folder sharing, comprehensive security features and integrated spam filtering combined with a simple licensing model mean that MDaemon provides a truly viable alternative to Microsoft's Exchange Server.

MDaemon

Why not host your MDaemon server with Zen Internet?

In the very near future, Zen Internet's award winning web hosting team will be offering dedicated MDaemon server hosting. This service will provide you with all the flexibility of your own MDaemon e-mail server while removing the need to worry about your server's hardware, Internet connectivity, DNS setup, data backup and software updates.

We expect this to be a very popular service so please register your interest by emailing managedhosting@zen.co.uk.

MDaemon is distributed exclusively in the UK by Zen Internet's sister company Zen Software Ltd.

For more information on MDaemon and its associated plug-ins please click here.

Fully functional, fully supported 30 day trial downloads are available.

Zen makes a Mac impact as 'Best Mac-Friendly ISP'

Macworld Awards 2007

Zen Internet was announced as 'Best Mac-Friendly ISP’ at the Macworld Awards, held at the Gibson Hall in London on Thursday 28th June. This award was the result of nominations from Macworld readers, reflecting Zen’s success in delivering excellent service levels to Mac users. The Macworld Awards are the established UK event in the Mac calendar, recognising the products and vendors which have made an impact in the Mac industry.

Zen has gained a first class position in the field of Mac Support with the implementation of a dedicated Apple Mac Support Team. Apple Macs users of Zen Internet-based services can be assured that technical advisors, who have the necessary knowledge and are aware of the latest developments, are available to offer support at the local call rate.

Phil Long, Technical Support Manager, Zen Internet commented:

"Zen’s continuing success can be attributed to our focus on providing the best technical support alongside high quality services, which leads to excellent commendations such as this Macworld Award. The dedicated Apple Mac team is a perfect example of how committed we are to meeting customer requirements across a range of areas."

Meet the team – Fiona Thomson, Partner Programme
Administrator

You all speak with them, whether it’s daily or only now and again. But who are these wonderful people really? Once again, ZenPartner News steals a few minutes with a member of the ZenPartner team...

The Profile

Fiona Thomson, Partner Programme Administrator

Full name: Fiona Claire Thomson.

Age: Over 30!

Postion(s): Partner Programme Administrator.

Length of time with company: 11 years 8 months! I was a member of the original Zen team of 4 people and now there are over 250 employees! I have worked for virtually every non-technical department ever since!

THE QUESTIONS

Where are you from originally?
Born in Manchester and brought up in Rochdale.

What were you doing before you joined Zen?
Studying for my combined degree in Media Studies and Business Management and after a short stint as a temp I got my job at Zen.

What are your 3 favourite Web sites (clean please)?
www.bbc.co.uk - Such a vast source of information
www.youtube.com - For a bit of light relief
www.tripadvisor.co.uk - I love my holidays!

Which album /single do you have in your stereo?
My musical tastes are quite varied. In my car at the moment I’m listening to Stadium Arcadium by Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Very Best of Dolly Parton – I just love 9 to 5!

Which football team do you support?
Manchester United and Rochdale AFC – got to support the local team!

What is your favourite childhood TV programme, and why?
I used to like watching Mr Benn – it was great going on different adventures with him every time he went to the costume shop!

If you could be any one else for a day who would it be and why?
Probably my Uncle – he’s a Travel Writer which has got to be one of the best jobs in the world. He’s been divorced twice though, so I guess you can’t have everything!

What was your best Christmas present?
This is a hard one! It would probably be when I got my first bike, which was a Raleigh Amber if I remember correctly – happy days!

Do you have any bad habits?
Yes, but none that I’m willing to divulge!

What was your first computer?
My older brother had a ZX81 which was black and white! His favourite game was flight simulator whereas mine was that tennis game which consisted of 2 lines and a dot – the simple ones are the best! He then moved on to a ZX Spectrum which introduced us to gaming in full colour! My favourite game then became space invaders – what a classic!

Thanks Fiona and that concludes another inspirational interview with a ZenPartner team member.
